If you needed to crown someone King of Streamer Fishing for Big Trout, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better candidate than Kelly Galloup. Not only has he spent most of his life fishing for and guiding others in the pursuit of big fish, he’s spent countless hours under the water studying the behaviors and feeding habits of predatory trout. Kelly pours all of that knowledge into his fly designs and all of his humor into their names. This week’s fly is an adaptation of a Scott Smith-inspired fly that Kelly calls the Articulated Butt Monkey.

The trimmed wool head allows it to maintain a large profile in the water and the addition of lead eyes gives it great jigging action. In the Black Gnats camp, this has become one of Paul’s favorite flies both to tie and fish. Again, Brian Wise of FlyFishingtheOzarks shows us how it’s done.
